Multi‑layer polyester
Window Guard privacy films are built from several cross‑laminated polyester layers - each oriented at a different angle to disperse stress. This design gives the film a tensile strength far beyond single‑ply alternatives, so it won’t rip if accidentally tugged during cleaning or installation. The lamination also locks out moisture and heat, preventing the slight “creep” or edge‑curl you sometimes see with budget films after a few hot summers or cold Canadian winters.
Optically clear adhesive
At the heart of every film is an advanced, UV‑stable acrylic adhesive. It bonds at the molecular level to glass, creating a distortion‑free interface that keeps outdoor views crisp and indoor light true‑to‑color. The adhesive is infused with UV inhibitors, so it won’t discolor into the amber tint that plagues older “privacy tint” products. It cures fully within 24-48 hours, yet remains flexible enough to move with thermal expansion - eliminating bubbles, edge lift, and hazing for the life of the film.
Hard‑coat surface
The exterior face is sealed with a proprietary hard‑coat layer just a few microns thick but tougher than many glass coatings. Everyday hazards - rings, dog noses, office chairs, or janitorial squeegees glide across without leaving foggy swirl marks. Any fingerprints or dirt wipe off with a mild, ammonia‑free cleaner and a soft cloth, so you maintain that fresh‑installed, satin look year after year without special polishes or abrasive pads.
